The longest vessel to ever berth in Dar es Salaam is on the horizon.
The Singapore-flagged Clemens Schulte is expected to berth at Dar’s port on Thursday, August 27.
The container ship measures 255 metres long and is the longest post-panamax vessel to arrive at Dar’s port.
Post-panamax ships are ones that don’t fit in the Panama Canal.
The ‘historical achievement’ sets the bar high for the future, says Tanzania International Container Terminal Services (TICTS) CEO Paul Wallace.
“We see strong operational improvements in productivity and performance at the port,” says Wallace, speaking to the Citizen newspaper.
“This however, is just a start.”
